When Singularity deals simultaneous damage, can Zhonya's Hourglass choose which unit is protected?

Singularity causes simultaneous damage across units. If I use Zhonya's Hourglass in that sequence, can I choose one specific unit to protect from that simultaneous damage event?

Yes. You choose the legal Zhonya's target as you use it, and that chosen unit gets the protection effect during Singularity's simultaneous damage resolution.
