Player A moves Ezreal to an uncontested battlefield. Player B Ride the Winds Vex, Cheerless to the same battlefield. Player A Gusts his own Ezreal in response, leaving the battlefield empty when Vex arrives.

Is this a combat showdown, and is Vex the attacker or defender?
