A player asked whether Alpha Strike actually targets the units it deals damage to, making it counterable by cards like Not So Fast, or whether it just targets the battlefield as a whole. They also wanted to know whether the damage has to be split evenly between the chosen units, or whether the caster can decide how much damage goes to each one. Does Alpha Strike choose specific units as targets, and can its damage be distributed unevenly among them?

Alpha Strike targets the units themselves, not the battlefield, so a counterspell like Not So Fast can stop it. You can split its damage however you like, as long as you assign at least 1 damage to each unit you chose.
