Does exhausting Arena Kingpin from a standard move activate its ability?

You can use Arena Kingpin's ability on your turn outside a showdown with an empty chain. Exhausting it as the cost of a standard move is not paying the cost of its own ability, so that move does not activate the ability. It would need wording like When you exhaust me to trigger from unrelated exhausts.
