Can you respond to Deathknell, and what happens if Scuttle Crab dies in combat?

You can play reactions to Deathknell triggers like any other chained effect. Deathknell during combat happens between combat cleanup and determining the combat winner. If a unit created at that moment leaves units on both sides, there is no winner and combat restarts on that battlefield. Surviving units are healed during combat cleanup.
