Can two showdowns happen at the same time?

If one showdown is active and another would be staged from a trigger or move effect, can they run simultaneously, or must one fully finish before the next begins?

Two showdowns do not run simultaneously. A currently active showdown finishes first, and a staged showdown starts only after that, with no showdown starting while the chain is still unresolved.
