Can Showstopper choose a new target if the original unit is Star-Crossed away?

My opponent casts Showstopper and chooses a unit to enable casting it. I respond with Star-Crossed on that unit and one of my units. When the chain resolves, can my opponent choose a different unit in base for Showstopper?
