I cast Void Rush and reveal Vengeance. I tap four runes to pay for Vengeance, which only costs two energy. I did not announce that I was floating the extra energy, but only realized afterward that I had overpaid. Do I still have two floating energy, even though players cannot voluntarily pay more than a spell's cost?
