Can Akshan steal a unit's equipped gear, and if so, does he equip it to himself?

Can Akshan steal a unit's equipped gear, and if so, does he equip it to himself?
Akshan has Blighted Battleaxe equipped and is in base without conquering this turn. I give him +1 Might by playing another unit (or via Pridestalker on the turn he enters). Will Akshan die at end of turn from the axe's 4 damage?
Can Akshan move equipment that is already attached to an enemy unit? If so, can I pay to attach that equipment to another unit while it is still attached, or must I wait for the first unit to die?
During a discussion about abilities with a 'here' referent, the example of Akshan came up: if control of the battlefield where the ability's source sits changes hands, does that break the ability's ability to find 'here', since the object is still the same game entity and only becomes a new one if it leaves the board?
In 2 v 2 can i equip one of my gear to one of my teamate unit since it's a friendly. Or i can only equip it to a unit I control?
